Let's Talk About: Community Guidelines aka House Rules

Now, before you picture a stern librarian with a "shush" finger, let's remember one thing: our community is a playground for professionals, and every good playground needs some rules to keep the fun flowing.

So, if you're a fan of free-spirited conversations, vibrant interactions, and the occasional GIF party, you're in the right place. But before you go all "emoji-splosion," let's dive into the essentials to make sure we're all on the same page.

At The Spot, we value the unique perspectives and charisma that we as diverse professionals bring to the table. We aim to create a space where we can be unapologetic and vibrant while still focusing on our professional endeavors. To keep our community respectful and uphold its integrity, we've set some language guidelines.

  1. Respect and Inclusivity: Each individual's identity and experience is sacred. We will respect each person's background, religion, profession, etc. Pronouns aren't preferences; they are fundamental aspects of an individual's identity. Let's create a space where we recognize, honor, and uplift every member's complete identity.

  2. Protect Everyone’s Privacy: Don’t share anything about yourself, your business, or another community member that you/they would not want to be made publicly available. This is a safe space where folks may need advice that wouldn’t want to be shared publicly, respect that. Do not post personal information that you receive in private messages or other one-to-one communications on the Community without the other party’s consent.

  3. Profanities: While we understand the nuances of casual conversations, we ask members to be mindful and refrain from using explicit swear words.

  4. Violence and Threats: Words related to violence or threats are strictly prohibited.

  5. Spammy Words: To preserve the quality of our interactions, avoid terms commonly found in spam messages or promotions.

  6. Brand Mentions: We appreciate constructive feedback and dialogue. However, ensure that any brand mentions or references remain positive and relevant.

  7. Respecting Intersectionality and Uniqueness in Our Community: We honor the individuality and diverse experiences of our members. The following are strictly prohibited: referencing intimate acts or body parts, derogatory slurs towards any racial, ethnic, national groups, gender identity, disability or sexual orientation.

  8. New Member Moderation: In the case our team is out of office (i.e. company Week of Rest or INBOUND), there may be a moderation hold on posts and replies for new members who join while we are out. This is to ensure that our community is properly moderated while we are away.

Language is a powerful tool. While we strive to cover all bases with this list, we might miss some. We rely on your discretion and cultural intelligence to ensure that our space remains respectful and inclusive. You bring a unique blend of charisma and professionalism—let that shine while being mindful of the guidelines.

Thank you for being an integral part of our community. Here's to creating a space that celebrates all of our excellence while maintaining professional integrity and promoting genuine respect and inclusivity.
